The Security Specialist position is responsible for performing operations
duties in a NERC CIP regulated environment.
typically include, monitoring, incident response, vulnerability assessments,
security controls testing, configuration management, and managing
security systems and tools.
This Position will assist with developing/enforcing controls that protect critical systems.
In addition to operational duties, this Security Specialist position is
a key contributor in the enforcement of policies, standards,
methodologies, processes, procedures, and long term compliance strategies.
Top Applicants will have:
o Typically a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science,
Engineering Management or equivalent work experience in related discipline.
o At least five years of hands-on experience in the IT industry
working with complex, large-scale IT technical environments.
o At least seven years of hands-on experience in IT security roles including
all aspects of operations, support, security testing,
vulnerability and threat assessment.
Security-Related Certification Requirements:
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - (ISC)2 required within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Certifications: (Ideally one or more certifications from these security-related areas)
o General Security
o Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM) - ISACA
o GIAC Information Security Professional (GISP) - SANS
o Networking Certification
o Cisco Certified Network Administrator / Professional (CCNA / CCNP) - Cisco
o Network+ - CompTIA
o Server OS Certification
o Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator / Engineer (MCSA / MCSE) - Microsoft
o Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) - Microsoft
o Other
o Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) - EC-Council
o GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) - SANS
A Sr. Security Specialist may be required to travel within the PGE service area
and to its generation facilities. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
Expected travel would be no more than 10% of work time.
Valid driver's license is required.
