DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
Performs software design to fulfill the functional and business requirements of the company and fit within the high-level architectural framework.

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and schedules the development and/or maintenance activities necessary to complete assignments.
• Appraises reports on, and assists with the development of new technologies and products and making recommendations on the acquisition of advanced technology.
• Architects databases and/or software solutions as required.
• Undertakes analysis of current software products and determines which approaches will improve the user interface, performance and integrity.
• Reviews and interprets user/system requirements into design specifications.
• Translates design specifications into code.
• Implements software module(s); performs coding, unit testing and integration testing functions to ensure each software module meets requirements and is bug-free.
• Maintains existing releases.
• Participates in or manages corporate level IS projects, as needed.
• Develops and maintains required technical documentation, as needed.
• Provides primary support toward installation of application releases, as needed.
• Continuously works to increase technical knowledge through training.
• Creates and maintains computer programs such as operating systems, communications software, utility programs, compilers, database handlers, etc.
• Ability to travel.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Required:

• BA in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems or equivalent degree/experience.
• Experience: 6months+ (can be internship experienc)

Software Skills Required:

• SQL – Advanced level
• C# – Advanced level
• C, C++, Java, or other OO language – Advanced level (Ideal but NOT required)
• Object Oriented programming skills – Advanced level
• Experience with databases (Access, MySQL, Postgres, or any standard DB platform) – Advanced-level
• Experience architecting a database and/or software product.
• Prior experience in the software development process.
• Experience with Microsoft tools and systems, such as Visual Basic for Applications, Visual Basic 6.0, VB.NET, Access, MTS, COM, Windows 95/98/2000/NT/XP.
• Excellent customer awareness and consulting skills.
• Emphasis on solution provision, rather than problem identification.
• Understands software architecture and high-level design that a new or modified software module must work within.
• Ability to elicit information when requirements are unclear.
• Demonstrated ability to work alone and/or as a member of a team on projects of various levels of complexity.
• Ability to work under the constraints of strict deadlines and short turnaround times, including extended work weeks and overtime when necessary.
• Requires minimal supervision.

Soft Skills Required
• Must possess basic communication skills and problem solving skills.
• Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
• Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision.
