Job Description:

A software engineer is a skilled professional focused on the design and
creation of software. Because they are interacting with both business
functions and programmers, Software Engineers should have excellent
communication skills and should enjoy working as part of a team. Successful
Software Engineers need to know basic business functions, have a firm
understanding of design methodology as they will often have to explain
business functions to other programmers and technology restraints to
non-technical business managers. They should show an enthusiasm and an
interest in all things technology.

At Hawes Technology, the successful software engineer should have the
following skills:

. Deep knowledge of full lifecycle application development from
requirements gathering, design, pre-production development, post-production
development and all levels of support.
. Designing, coding and debugging applications in various software
languages and the ability to learn new languages as required.
. Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review,
identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability
analysis.
. Object-oriented Design.
. Performance tuning, improvement, usability, and automation of software
with special focus on data throughput and web page timing.
. Support, maintenance and documentation of software functionality with
emphasis on commented code, expanded and detailed assessments and the
ability to express detail to outside, non-technical interested parties.
. Integrate software with existing systems especially with regard to
re-usage of production systems and DAKCS.
. While not a requirement per se the following items will assist the
developer:
. Knowledge and understanding of stateless web technologies
. Familiarity with the “LAMP” family of technologies : Linux, Apache
and PHP
