o The University of Oregon Division of Student Affairs invites applications for a full-time Website Designer (Information Technology Consultant). This is a limited duration position expected to last until June 30, 2013. This search is reopened.
o This is a classified position represented by SEIU local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.
o University of Oregon positions that are at least half-time are eligible for excellent benefits, including health and dental, employer-paid retirement, and tuition benefits for employee or an eligible dependent, sick and vacation leave.
o Due to budgetary shortfalls, the person appointed to this position will be required to take unpaid furlough days between date of hire and June 30, 2013.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:

... basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technology and information systems as generally obtained through an associate's degree in information systems, graphic design, digital arts, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study or at least one year of related work experience.

Required qualifications:

* Exceptional creative design skills.
* Demonstrable experience developing effective website designs and consistent branding for websites.
* Demonstrated ability to assess client needs and guide creative process to design effective websites.
* Experience working in professional website design, layout, marketing, or similar environment.
* Experience in testing for and assuring optimal web user experience, including knowledge of 508 compliant web design standards.
* Demonstrable experience creating website designs for modern content management systems.
* Proficiency with Adobe CS.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
* Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing work and completing work by project milestones.
* Attention to detail.

Preferred qualifications:

* Knowledge of online coding languages such as XHTML, HTML 5, CSS and Javascript.
* Experience with DotNetNuke content management system.
* Experience with browser compatibility issues, testing, and solutions.
* Experience with 508 inclusive accessible website design guidelines.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position designs and assists with implementation of graphics and end user interfaces for web-based applications, systems, websites, and other projects for various Division of Student Affairs departments. Duties include:
... analyzing site and departmental needs, determining design and interface solutions to meeting those needs, and developing the optimal site design for meeting goals to attract and retain target audiences.
... assisting departmental clients by developing website and communication goals and strategies using tools like analytics, user feedback, and other data; assisting departmental clients in creating a unified branding strategy for their website that supports their departmental mission statement and strategic goals and creates site-wide cohesiveness and consistency, while conforming to UO and Student Affairs branding requirements.
... attending meetings and advising departments on best practices in web design and communication; designing and creating website and application designs, based on departmental client goals and branding strategies while complying with 508 accessibility web standards; developing detailed design specifications and documentation and review them with the departmental clients to ensure the design meets requirements.
... implemening website designs through the creation of themes/skins for content management systems; working closely with Student Affairs web developers to implement features into website designs; creating and preparing illustrations or graphics for publication on various websites.

3. This position frequently works on multiple concurrent projects under time pressure, with predictable and unpredictable deadlines. Describe your experience working under stressful conditions and how you managed multiple projects with multiple deadlines.
