MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field
AND
At least 6 years of progressively complex experience in a combination of; network administration, systems
analysis, database administration, systems administration and/or email administration using industry‐standard
tools and protocols,

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: SAN Design and Administration, Citrix XENAPP, Citrix XEN Server, Group Policy Expert,
SPAM and Web filtering, SQL and SSRS Experience, Laserfiche Administration and Workflow design,
Backup/Disaster Recovery including cloud backup, Virtual Desktop.

We have several research internship positions in characterizing enterprise applications and identifying opportunities in software and hardware. We are looking for interns that can work with us for 3 to 6 months in 2013. These internships are available throughout the year.

Job Description:
In this position, you will be part of the System Optimization Technology Center (SOTC) of Intel SSG. SOTC is part of the Software and Services Group (SSG) responsible for performance and enabling of enterprise applications on Intel architecture. You will be working on optimization of software and hardware on Intel platforms showcasing leading performance. Behavioral traits include having excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Characterize software applications based on data collected from enterprise workloads.
- Optimize software such as Java middleware, database and web servers on Intel architectures.
- Identify hardware opportunities to improve software performance.
- Apply state of the art advanced analytics to discover new opportunities.
- Evangelize the use of emerging processor capabilities to the software industry.

Skills:
You must be a graduate student working towards a Master of Science degree and/or a Ph.D.
Candidate must have at least one year of work or educational experience in the following areas
- Computer Architecture, Software Performance, Statistical Analysis, Machine Learning, Data Mining
- Familiarity with Intel microprocessor architectures
- Ability to diagnose performance issues at the platform and processor architecture level

Responsibilities

*        Codes and programs enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of firmware.

*        Executes established test plans and protocols for assigned portions of code; identifies, logs, and debugs assigned issues.

*        Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on firmware design and development.

*        Participates as a member of a project team of other firmware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for low to moderately-complex products.

*        Works with the testing team to ensure that solutions are fully tested and issues are debugged to root cause.

*        Provides documentation for all work for common review

*        Participates in code review and group design meetings


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  *   Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,  Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
Knowledge and Skills

  *   Proficiency in C is required.
  *   C++/Assembly programing experience is highly desired.
  *   Script(bash/tcsh/perl/python etc) programing experience is nice to have.
  *   Experience or understanding of firmware design tools and languages.
  *   Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  *   Understanding of firmware and hardware design principles.
  *   Understanding of basic testing, coding, release processes, and debugging procedures
  *   Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
  *   Familiar with the agile code development methodologies
