About CRS
Conflict Resolution Services (CRS) transforms conflict through communication. This is accomplished through mediation; facilitation; trainings, workshops, and presentations; coaching and consultation; restorative justice; and neutral observation for the campus community.

General Responsibilities
• Develop and implement improvements to the CRS website (overall look, photos, new pages, etc.)
• Improve accessibility of CRS website (user-friendliness for individuals with limited or no vision, etc.)
• Develop options for making the CRS website multi-lingual; work with CRS Director and translators to integrate multiple languages into the website
• Develop creative ideas for making the CRS website more dynamic, interactive, and innovative
• Collaborate with the CRS Director and other CRS staff and interns
• Track hours
• Other tasks as needed

Required Qualifications
• Education and/or experience in website development
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
• Self-motivated
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Preferred
• Education and/or experience in web design
• Graphic design skills

Term: Summer 2012
Hours: 5 hours/week (possibly more if/as needed)
Pay: $13/hour

Cisco - Linux Programmer (Portland, OR)

 We are looking for an experienced Linux programmer with knowledge of network protocols.  This is a 1-year contract with an opportunity to develop a router for small IPv6 networks that supports auto-configued routing, naming, and discovery protocols for multiple providers of services to the small network. The candidate should have a good understanding of build and integration processes, software testing, and able to write test software. There will opportunities to participate in system design and new protocol development.  The candidate will need to function well in a virtual team with team participants located in multiple timezones in the U.S. and Europe.

UO Business - Student Assistants (Eugene, OR)

Summer 2012 Student Assistant Positions

Matt O'Hern, an Assistant Professor in the Marketing Department of the
Lundquist College of Business is currently looking for 2 or 3 students to
serve as student assistants this summer. Here are the descriptions of these
positions:

Position 1   Wanted: A student to work 3 or more hours per week, who can
assist me in extracting online data using a Python-based tool. The
successful candidate should definitely be comfortable programming in
Python. Experience in developing web spiders would be very helpful but is
not required. The research assistant will be expected to build on and
refine the existing spiders developed by my last student assistant and use
these spiders to collect the website data of interest. Candidates must
currently be enrolled as a U of O student to be considered for this
position. Work study eligibility preferred but not required.

Position 2   Wanted: A student to work approximately 3 or more hours per
week, who can assist me in developing high quality digital images to be
used in our experimental research studies. Ideally, the candidate should
have experience in website development and be comfortable with html and
javascript.  Alternatively, someone with a strong knowledge of Photoshop
may be able to generate the visual materials we need, even if website
development isn't their strong suit. In any event, we are looking for
someone who can quickly turn our ideas into finished  products, and is able
to create professional-looking content.  Candidates
must currently be enrolled as a U of O student to be considered for this
position. Work study eligibility preferred but not required.

Position 3 Wanted: A student to work approximately 3 or more hours per week
who can assist me in running consumer research studies here at the U of O.
No previous experience is required but this person must be organized,
hard-working, and conscientious. A good knowledge of excel, sql or both,
would be an added plus but is not required. Work study eligibility for
summer 2012 is required for this position.

Enterprise Administrative Applications in IS has an Enterprise Systems
Developer position open in our middleware group. Our middleware group is
responsible for the web application infrastructure for Banner, Duckweb,
Cognos BI, Identity and Access Management (Duck ID System, LDAP Directory,
Shibboleth) as well as other enterprise applications.  We work with Apache,

Web Development Assistant Job Description (Student Assistant 3)

The Web Development Assistant will assist in the development, testing and
maintenance of the websites of the Center on Teaching and Learning under
the guidance and supervision of the CTL Web Developer. These websites use
the Drupal and Joomla content management systems. These websites include
informational websites, professional development and outreach websites, and
online e-learning websites.

Required traits:
. Comfortable working with HTML and CSS
. Experience or coursework with PHP, or another programming language
. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop
. Strong writing skills and attention to detail

Additional desired traits:
. Experience with performing quality assurance testing of websites or
applications

Language Twin - Technical Lead (Portland, OR)

Who are we?

LanguageTwin is a Portland based company that links learning foreign
language in the classroom with authentic conversational exposure with
native speakers. We’ve designed a language learning video chat that
allows students to help each other by speaking their native language as
well as their language of study. Our framework is designed to supplement
language course material and allows professors to adopt LanguageTwin,
evaluate and structure their students’ conversations, and allocate a
grade to their students’ progress and performance.  Language
“Twinning” is already happening at the UofO, Princeton, UCLA, and a
list of schools in 7 countries.

What is this position about?

LanguageTwin is looking for a technical lead to join our team as we gear up
for the official launch of our pay-site on February 1st, 2013. The
individual will wear a variety of hats and work closely with our Canadian
development team during the build out of the third and final pilot to be
launched on October 1st. The position will be part-time (10-20 hours per
week) from July 1st, 2012 to Feb 1st, 2013 and compensated with a monthly
stipend and equity stake. As of February 1st, 2013 the position will become
full time and salaried.

Things we need to see

. Broad experience with web application development
. Advanced knowledge of PHP, Drupal, mysql, Javascript, Node.js, Flash
. Strong Communication Skills (liaison between developers and
non-developers)

Genius Media Solutions, LLC is a local eugene start up that specializes in a variety of web development pursuits. Our work consists of medium to large IT projects that include interactive backend development, mobile app development, and a variety
of database driven applications. We are not a large company, but rather two hard working individuals who built a business from the ground up starting only two years ago.
Duties/Responsibilities of the Intern
We are looking for an energetic developer who is a creative thinker and is able to think outside of the box to solve problems. Your internship with Genius Media Solutions will help you obtain a crucial understanding of concept and project development, while developing some of the building blocks (puzzle pieces) of our sql database driven web projects. You must be dependable and flexible at the same time, and be able to bounce between multiple projects as work dictates.
Qualifications / Skills
 Php, Javascript, Jquery, Ajax, developer with a good understanding of basic SQL database Development.
Some questions to ask yourself before applying...
-Do I understand how primary keys can be utilized to join sql database tables to manage information schema (nothing crazy, just the basics)?
-Am i familiar with using jQuery Ajax calls to post and retrieve php from a web server query?
-Do I have html / css skills to interactively display the information I am requesting?
-Do I enjoy looking at an IT development problem, and thinking about a user's experience while developing an application.

Tech Skills
• Structured Programming, LAMP—object oriented PHP, some MySQL experience, apache admin
